Weinprobe I
(Wine tasting tour I)
April 12, 2008
The first KCMGCC wine tasting tour will be to 2 wineries in Montserrat, MO.
For those who have never been to a winery for wine tasting, that is exactly what it is, simply tasting the wines that the winery has to offer to see if there are any that appeal to you. If you find anything you like, you can buy a bottle but you are under no obligation to do so. Or if the weather is nice, you can even buy a glass of your favorite wine and sit and relax on the balcony. Most wineries have snack baskets with cheese, crackers, fruits, etc but they are usually a little pricey.
We will meet in the McDonald’s parking lot at I-70 and Woods Chapel Rd in Blue Springs. We will leave at 1:30 for the wineries. I have a tour planned on back roads to the winery. It is about 60 miles one way and will take about an hour and a half. We can return via Hiway 50 and save a little time or return the way we came.
Hope you can join us.
Here are the web sites for the wineries:
Montserrat Vineyards: http://www.montserratvineyards.com/
Bristle Ridge Vineyards: http://www.brvwine.com/
Looking ahead:
On May 24th we will be going to New Oak Vineyards near Wellington and then on to Baltimore Bend Vineyards near Waverly where there will be a live oldies band playing in the evening. You can bring your own snacks with you but all beverages (alcoholic and soft drinks) must be purchased on the premises due to state laws.
